About Gas Chromatograph

Chromatography refers to a set of laboratory techniques used for the separation of mixtures. It involves a mobile phase and a stationary phase. The mixture is dissolved in the mobile phase, which is then passed to the stationary phase. The separation of the mixture is caused by the different speeds at which the various constituents of the mixture travel. The separation of the mixture is done based on differential partitioning between mobile and stationary phases. Differential retention in the stationary phase is the final outcome due to slight differences in the partition coefficient of the compound, thus changing the separation.
