About Battery Separator
A battery separator is a material placed between the battery’s cathode and anode. Cathode and anode are the building blocks of a battery. The separator has a permeable membrane that is moistened with electrolyte and acts as a catalyst for the movement of the ions from the anode to the cathode when it is discharged and from the cathode to the anode when it is charged. These ions are atoms that have gained or lost electrons to become electrically charged and are used for closing the circuit when current is passed through them. The main function of the separator is to maintain a distance between the two electrodes to prevent short circuits while allowing the movement of ions.
